Policies

Pricing: Dance Unlimited makes every effort to provide quality instruction in a supportive environment while maintaining pricing that is competitive with other area studios. Our studio runs a 36 week dance season, compared to other studios 32 weeks.

Dance Season Dates: The dance school season runs from Saturday, August 26, 2023 to Friday, June 7, 2024.

Holiday Schedule: There are no classes around Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Spring Break, and Memorial Day. Our dance holidays do not always follow the school schedules, so check our Tuition page for this year’s holiday dates.

Tuition Payments: Your first tuition payment confirms your child’s enrollment and class selection. For new families, a one-time registration fee is due.

Statements are not mailed. Tuition and fees are non-refundable.

There are 9 tuition payments each dance year. Check our Tuition page for this year’s due dates.

Full-Year Payment: If you pay the entire year’s fees in full by September 1st, you receive a 5 percent discount on tuition rates. This is a non-refundable payment.

Multi-Class Discount: The more classes your child takes, the greater the discount. Discounts are calculated based on the number of classes taken per week. Please see our Tuition page for specific multi-class discount rates.

Family Discount: There is a 10 percent discount to additional family members enrolled after the first student.

Late Fee: A $20 late fee will apply automatically applied to an overdue account at midnight on the last day of the month. No exceptions.

Dancers with accounts more than 30 days past due will not be allowed to take class until the account is brought up to date.

Payment Methods: Payments be made through your Studio Director account by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, & Discover). You are able to manually make your payment each month or set up an auto-debit. A 3% surcharge is applied. Checks can be made payable to Dance Unlimited and put through the drop slot on the lower left side of our doors.

Refund Policy: TUITION IS NON-REFUNDABLE. Exceptions can be made for medical reasons. A doctor’s note is required within 48 hours of diagnosis to receive a refund for tuition due to medical reasons or an ailment. Refunds are calculated based on the date Dance Unlimited receives written notice of the student’s condition, less a $25 processing fee.

Schedule Changes: Unless made at the Director’s request, any class dropped or transferred after September 30th is subject to a $20 processing fee.

Studio Showcases: Our monthly Studio Showcases are unique to Dance Unlimited and give students additional performance opportunities. Participation is optional. Details will be released for the 2023-2024 Showcase schedule later in the year.

In addition to performing with their group classes, students also are given the opportunity to perform solos or duets as part of the Studio Showcase. Sign-up and pricing information for solos or duets is available with the office.

Notifications:  We send special notices and newsletters through email from office@performingartsfactory.com PLEASE ADD THIS EMAIL ADDRESS TO YOUR CONTACT LIST TO ENSURE THEY ARE NOT SENT TO YOUR JUNK FOLDER. We also post announcements on the bulletin board and maintain a binder of all email notices and class handouts for those without email at the front desk.

Class Observation: We offer two Parent Observation Days each season. This year the dates are tentatively set for November 6-11 and February 12-17. This is an ideal opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with his or her instructor. Observing class at other times is not allowed.

Teacher Conferences: If you wish to speak to your child’s instructor for any reason, please arrange an appointment by leaving a message with the office staff. Due to scheduling, teachers usually are not available between classes.

We encourage teacher/parent conferences to discuss your child’s progress or placement.

Leaving the Building: Minors under age 18 may not leave the building alone without a written permission slip on file in the office. An update is required each year.

Cancellation Policy: Any class with fewer than 8 enrolled students may be cancelled at any time during the year.

Registration Fee: A $25 registration fee is required of all new dance and acting students. This is a one-time fee as long as a student remains enrolled during the September through June season, completes the year in good standing and registers again by 9/30 of the following year.

Class Placement: All classes are observed for the first several weeks to confirm that students have been placed in the proper class levels. Instructors will advise students and parents if a student should be moved to a different level.

Throughout the year, students moving at a faster pace will be encouraged to move to the next level. Our class levels are not equivalent to school grades, so students may advance more quickly or slowly depending on skill level.

Snow or Bad Weather: The studio does not necessarily close for snow days, even if area schools are closed. Check our website, Facebook, or contact the studio to see if there is a weather cancellation on afternoon classes.

If a student misses class because the studio is closed for snow, he or she may make up that class by attending any other scheduled class within the next 5 weeks. Make-up classes for snow day cancellations are not required for perfect attendance.

Make-up Classes: Students who miss class due to illness or another reason may make up that class by attending any other scheduled class within the next 5 weeks.

Make-up classes are a courtesy offered by the studio and do not count toward perfect attendance. The make-up class policy does not apply for the Acting Program or limited-run classes.

Students must check in at the front office for a make-up class voucher to present to the instructor. The student must supply office staff with the date, name, and time of the original class that was missed.

Attendance and Tardiness: Students are expected to be prompt and attend all classes. Good attendance at class is important, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class.

Attendance is taken at each class, and recognition is given at the June recital for students with perfect attendance all 36 weeks. Students who are tardy for class (more than 10 minutes late) or leave early are not eligible for perfect attendance recognition.

Early Withdrawal/Leave of Absence: Tuition is non-refundable. If a student must withdraw for any reason, you are obligated for the current 4-week payment period. Please notify the office of your withdrawal promptly to avoid further tuition charges.

Should the student wish to return in the future, a $25 registration fee will apply.

If a student withdraws after recital costumes have been ordered, you are responsible for the costume balance. Costume orders are non-returnable.

Acceptance: Students are accepted to Dance Unlimited with the understanding that they have enough self-control to work as part of a group and will adhere to studio policies. Students are evaluated for proper class assignment by instructors and the studio director. Admission into the Accelerated Program classes is by in-class audition only.

Class Procedures: Classes begin and end promptly as scheduled. Dancers should be dressed and ready for class on time. Students are encouraged to arrive early for class so they can be ready when class begins.

No gum, food, or beverages are permitted in the studios or dressing rooms.

It is our goal to offer students quality class instruction time and take all possible steps to maintain order while providing a positive learning experience. Disruptive students will be asked to “take a time out” in the waiting room or studio area. This decision is made only by the class instructor. Discipline problems are discussed with the student and/or parent and appropriate steps are taken to benefit the entire class.

Audit Classes: Students may audit classes above their skill level with the understanding that we cannot slow down class work. This is an option for students with transportation problems or those taking multiple classes in preparation for more advanced work.

Audit space is limited and subject to cancellation at any time to accommodate on-level students added to the class during the year. Audit students cannot participate in the class recital piece unless approved by the instructor.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up: Students must enter and leave the studio by the front door only. The studio is open 15 minutes before the start of the first class of the afternoon. Please do not drop students off earlier than our scheduled opening time just because you seen an open door. Please pick up students at the scheduled end of class.

For your child’s safety, students are not permitted to wait outside for a ride and can be found in the lobby, office, or classroom at pick-up.

Supervision Fee: There is a “Supervision Fee” of $10 per 15-minute increment (or portion thereof) charged if students are left at the studio. Should you foresee an unavoidable problem or delay with student pick-up, please alert the staff so they can inform your child and avoid alarm and worry.

Siblings may not be left without parent supervision while other children are in class.

Recital: Our end-of-the-year program is held at the Weinberg Center for the Arts each June. Your child may perform either or both of these days. Dress rehearsal is held the day before the first performance and attendance at dress rehearsal is mandatory for all performers.

Participation in recital is optional. Any students wishing to participate in a recital piece must be enrolled in classes by December 1st (costume-ordering time). Regular class attendance is required for recital participation.
