Teen (ages 13-17)

Explanation of Teen levels (8th-12th grade):
Level 1 (beginner to adv beginner, as well as students moving up from the Pre Teen level)
Level 2 (intermediate)
Level 3 (high intermediate)
Level 4 (advanced – requires a strong technical background)


JAZZ
Fast paced and high energy; class progresses through warm­ up, floor crossings, and mini-combinations

TAP
Covers time steps, progressive foot work, varied rhythms, and innovative routines. A mix of classical and rhythm tap.

BALLET
Class will stress proper technique, alignment, and terminology using a combination of barre, center and across the floor work.

POINTE
Must be enrolled in a minimum of one other ballet class and recommended by instructor.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY
Class will include lyrical contemporary dance techniques while performing to music that inspires movement and expression. Promotion to level 2 requires solid classical ballet technique.

TEEN HIP HOP
A mix of urban street dance and “new style” – a fast paced & high energy class for teens who love hip hop

ADVANCED TECHNIQUE
Class will focus on ballet/jazz barre technique and develop center floor balance, control, flexibility, and strength. A great technique & endurance builder. Students will do yoga on the first class of the month.

GYMNASTICS FOR DANCERS (placement by instructor – levels 1, 2, 3 & 4)
Class will improve strength, flexibility and stamina, resulting in a more powerful and enhanced dance performance.

STRENGTH & STABILITY FOR DANCERS (ages 12-18)
Two main components in dance are strength and stability. This class is designed to help dancers reach an improved and higher level of balance, coordination, strength & flexibility to prepare for more advanced, controlled skill work in their dance classes.

DANCE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 12-18)
Perfect for pre teen and teen performers trying to boost their dance ability for school or community theatre shows & auditions. Class will include jazz & tap and is designed to help performers gain skills and confidence in musical theatre dance.
